EMT Application

Thank you for your interest in UAEMS!

We hire UArizona students who are interested in healthcare and serving their campus community.  Members of UAEMS are expected to provide 30 hours of volunteer 9-1-1 medical services each month, in addition to attending professional training, campus & community outreach events, and providing standby medical services.

Volunteering with UAEMS provides hands-on experience in healthcare and helps build knowledge of emergency care. In addition, there is little that compares to the satisfaction of serving your collegiate community as a first responder.

All new agency members go through a semester-long probationary period. These candidates have the same requirements expected of general members, with the addition of classroom sessions to review skills and agency-specific standing orders. Through the semester, red shirts take steps to increase the level of patient care provided and gain confidence in their EMT and decision-making skills. At the end of their probationary period, candidates will take the Blue Shirt Exam (BSE) to assess their EMT skills.

You may still submit an application for the Fall semester even if you have not passed or taken your NREMT exam yet. Your acceptance to the agency will be contingent on you completing and passing your NREMT, as well as being fully certified through both NREMT and AZDHS. If selected for an agency position, you will have to have these certifications completed by your orientation date.

We have two hiring periods per year, one in January and one in August. Be on the lookout for applications opening for the next hiring period.
