Narcan/Naloxone
Narcan, also known by its generic name Naloxone, is a life-saving medication used to temporarily reverse an opioid overdose. It is only effective for overdoses involving opioids such as heroin or prescription pain relievers (e.g. oxycodone, morphine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, and methadone). With minimal training requirements, and packaged in an easy-to-use device, Narcan is a miracle drug that is proving to be a pivotal harm-reduction strategy in the battle against increasing opioid overdoses.
Narcan is available at every Pima County pharmacy, no prescription, or insurance required. It can also be found at every public library in Pima County. To see where Narcan is available near you click here.
